General Comments: Unquestionably Laphroaig. A steal at £44.99.

Nose: Screams Laphroaig; the sweetness of the vanilla's, a vague notion of Oloroso sherry is there with an interesting fruitiness in the background; reminiscent of fruit salad sweets from the 1980's or for the kids orange flavored Maoams. You could legitimately suggest "Chewits" and that alone is worth the money.

Palate: Rich sweetness and mouth filling. Treacle and an edge of Bleck Jack's style liquorice sweets.

Finish: Shortish on the finish and definitely drying on the tongue. An after taste of caramel left; like having eaten a Werthers Original a few minutes before.

Whilst this is not unpleasant to drink; I suggest giving it at least 30 minutes in the glass.

Developed Nose: Still screams Laphroaig. Perhaps a tad sweeter, the fruitiness seems fresher, slightly acidic and citric in nature. Like a spray of juice from a freshly cut into peach or nectarine.

Developed Taste: Watery at first but the peat building in the mouth, filling the mouth and making the esophagus tingle. Treacle is still how the sweetness comes through, along with a hint of mint (not unusually for aged whisky's).

Developed Finish: A lingering menthol on the finish with a lighter, less molasses intense sweetness remaining.

Conclusion: Leave it in the glass for 30 minutes and then enjoy. Not dissimilar to the Laphroaig 15. Its a massive shame that this wasn't released unchilfiltered at 46%.
